Let's get your messages ready
First, you'll need to export your data from Facebook. We'll guide you through both export types - it only takes a few minutes.
E2E Encrypted
For end-to-end encrypted conversations (the lock icon chats)
Standard Messages
For regular Messenger conversations
Why two export types?
Facebook has two export methods. The E2E export was added after Meta introduced end-to-end encryption in Messenger. Since E2E encryption only applies to direct person-to-person conversations, all group messages are only available in the Legacy export - they cannot be E2E encrypted. For complete coverage, export both types.
We'll guide you through both E2E encrypted and standard message exports.
